The beaches of Lefkada
East side The east side of the island is more developed. Throughout the journey from north to south coastal settlements continually meet and hotels. The sea and beaches on this side is far less impressive than in the south and mostly west side is much more crowded. So during the time we went to the island not far to swim on this side and I can not speak for the beaches. I will mention only some of them. The beaches in Ligia: Tempeli and Paradise in Nikiana: Bishop, Nikiana, Savior, the most southerly Keramidaki and Perigiali
South side The south side of the island has several small bays hosting beaches. To find the need to exit the highway and make a few kilometers, with continuing normally bends.
West side The west side is the most wild, beautiful and fortunately missed part of the island. The most famous beaches are located here: Porto Katsiki, Egkremnoi, Kathisma. Most beaches are long in length but is completely open and thus often have large waves and wants attention. Fortunately, despite their great beauty, have not developed too much, although unfortunately it seems to be changing and many are going to exploit them. This may be parking, canteens and beach bar, restaurant and rooms are usually accompanied by abuses and destruction of forests and slopes. We try not to support such practices, we take water, snacks and umbrellas from us before and we have no need.
